You can view cohorted reports out to a maximum of 28 days for your mobile app events.
Please note that if your account has just been hooked up to AdRules, you'll need to allow time for cohort snapshots to accumulate. A cohort snapshot is taken in the final hour of the day, in the account’s timezone.
You can select the metric to report on using the dropdown in the tools menu. Expressions are available if they utilize any of the qualified Facebook columns or the conversion import columns.
In the date selector, you can choose between Summary and Daily data breakdowns.
In Daily mode you'll see cohorts for individual origination dates.
In Summary mode you'll see totals for each cohort Day for the selected time range. This means individual origination dates will be blended together to create a larger, more accurate portrayal of performance. For example, you can see your Cost per Install cohorts over for the last 7 days.
- Days that aren't fully matured yet won't be included in the cohort Day column. Example, yesterday will only have a Day 0 and Day 1 value, so it can't add to the Day 2 and on amounts. Keep this in mind, especially when viewing a report that is just a tally, such as when you select Spend as your cohort metric.
Use the Data Options selector to show cohorts analysis for individual creative or targeting elements, or combos thereof. You can use the Filter button to show only a single item, such as one particular image or audience.
Attribution Windows
Facebook attribution windows use rolling hourly periods. For example, an ad clicked on at 10PM on a given date will have all its actions attributed to 1-day view or click until 10PM the next day. Cohorts data, by contrast, is captured at the end of the calendar date, in the account's timezone, and reflects what the data looked like at the end of that calendar day. This may not match up with Facebook data, which may continue to change until the Facebook attribution window closes.
Your Cohorts report uses the same Facebook attribution window settings used in other reports. Because cohorts are shown to the maximum of 28 days, using shorter attribution timeframes like 1 or 7 will cause data to be “capped” after the respective day (ie, it will not change after the 7th day if using 7 day attribution). Keep in mind, however, that these attribution settings can be applied to view and click independently, which means one or both may stop contributing to the cohorts totals after a given day, based on your settings.
To see the maximum number of cohort days, set both view and click to 28 days. You can optionally exclude one or the other to view them independently. Don’t forget to change these settings back if you typically use different settings elsewhere in reporting.
Imported Data (Event_1 - 10)
Cohorts data is assembled at the end of the day (11:59pm) in the account timezone. The data in the system at that time will be used to create any cohort metrics that rely on imported data.
Cohorts analysis will display estimated figures in blue for time periods that have not fully matured yet. These estimates are created by using the day-over-day averages from other days in the selected date range, and applying those averages to more recent days that lack data. In this way, you can see a prediction of how your current data will mature.
